Port speed: 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps on request
What port speed means and what each ClientVPS product gets.
In short
Port speed is the most data a server's network connection can carry at any moment. Every ClientVPS VPS has a 1 Gbps port, except a few Hong Kong China-route plans (10 to 50 Mbps), and a 10 Gbps port is available on request; dedicated servers can add a 10 Gbps uplink on the order page for $49.00 a month.

Key facts
- 10 Gbps for a VPS
- On request: ask in live chat or open a ticket, and we confirm the price before anything changes
- 1 Gbps VPS page
- What 1 Gbps means
- Up to about 125 megabytes per second
Port speed and traffic
Port speed is how fast data can move at any moment: 1 Gbps (one gigabit per second) is about 125 megabytes per second. Traffic is how much data the server moves in a month, counted in terabytes. A plan has both.
1 Gbps is the most the port can deliver. The speed you see also depends on things outside our network, such as the connection at the other end (Terms of Service, section 2).
What it does not mean
- Not a monthly allowance: port speed is a speed; the monthly amount of data is traffic.
- Not a guaranteed constant speed: 1 Gbps is the maximum the port can deliver.
Not to be confused with
- Gbps and GB
- Gbps (gigabits per second) is a speed. GB (gigabytes) is an amount of data. 1 Gbps moves about 125 MB each second.
- Uplink
- Another word for the server's network port, used on the plan cards.
Questions
Is 1 Gbps enough?
For websites, VPNs, game servers and file downloads it usually is: most servers use the full speed only in short bursts. For large transfers between servers, ask about 10 Gbps.
How do I get a 10 Gbps port on a VPS?
Ask us in live chat or open a ticket with the plan and location you have in mind. We arrange the 10 Gbps port and confirm the price before anything changes.
