KVM virtualization: facts
What it means that every ClientVPS VPS is a KVM virtual machine.
In short
KVM is the virtualization every ClientVPS VPS runs on: each server is a full virtual machine with its own kernel, so it can run Docker, VPNs and custom kernel modules, and its memory and disk are its own.

What KVM means for your server
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is the virtualization built into Linux. Each server runs its own kernel on virtual hardware, with the memory and disk of its plan, so it behaves like a physical machine: Docker, WireGuard, custom firewall rules and kernel modules all work.
What it does not mean
- Not a container: unlike OpenVZ or LXC, a KVM server does not share the host's kernel.
- Not a dedicated server: the physical machine is shared with other virtual servers.
Not to be confused with
- vCPU
- A virtual processor core. On standard plans it is shared fairly with other servers on the host; on dedicated-vCPU plans it is reserved for your server.
Questions
Can I run Docker on a ClientVPS VPS?
Yes. Every VPS is a KVM virtual machine with its own kernel, so Docker and other container tools work.
Can I resize my VPS later?
Not from the client area. Ask our team, or order a larger plan and move your data.
